I have been wood-turning for sometime but find that I get the most pleasure from seeking out exceptional pieces of local hardwood timber and turning them into beautiful, unique writing implements.
My woods are nearly all sourced in my local area in County Wicklow. Kiln-Dried Hardwoods in the Killruddery Estate, near Bray and the Lisnavagh Estate in Co Carlow (The home of the Bunbury Boards) are my two main sources.
I work, in my spare time, in a small workshop at home and therefore don’t produce large numbers of pens. I like to think that the small quantity that I do produce is of the finest quality and all are made from exceptional pieces of timber.
I never know what beautiful piece of wood that I am going to find next so the choices will vary from time to time. I would usually have special pieces of Spalted Beech, Elm, Sycamore of various types, Yew of various colours, Oak and Ash, Birch and Walnut. These can all be beautiful in their own way.
I will try to keep this website up to date with what I have available, but if you want something extra special the best thing is to contact me and I can let you know what I have.
The other thing to bear in mind is that you have a special piece of wood, perhaps with sentimental value I could convert it into a series of pens or pencils for you to keep as mementos.
